Michiel Baumgarten Freelance Illustrator / Character designer - Groningen

Hello, nice to meet you.

I’m Michiel Baumgarten, illustrator, based in Groningen, the Netherlands.

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I would draw everything I could think of, from cars and monsters to superheroes, Michael Jackson, the Ghostbusters, flying DeLoreans and the people around me. Back then I already knew I wanted to become a ‘real’ illustrator, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing since 2007.

Over the years I’ve developed a strong personal style and a real love for coming up with original, sometimes slightly crazy ideas. I’m always curious to see where an idea can take me and how far I can push an illustration. I really love what I do, and I think that comes through in the work.

I work on all kinds of commissioned projects, but I always make time for personal work too. It’s where I get to experiment, try new things and keep developing my style. Because I think illustration should be fun. Fun to make, fun to look at and, most of all, fun to work on together. That’s what I bring to every project.

Interested in working together or want to ask me something? Feel free to get in touch by email or phone.
